Skills Shipping & Receiving
This course will provide the fundamental knowledge of shipping, receiving,
and warehouse operations. Upon completion, students will have the working
knowledge and skills to work in entry level positions as a routing clerk,
merchandise deliverer, shipping and receiving clerk, stock clerk, expediter,
delivery driver, inventory clerk, distributing clerk, stock clerk, forklift
truck operator, material handler and material expediter. Jobs for this
training are available in warehouses, small businesses, grocery stores,
schools, and manufacturing companies. Students will learn how to identify
basic workplace safety rules related to shipping and receiving activities,
how to stretch wrap cartons on pallets, how to perform a detailed physical
count of incoming merchandise, and how to complete documents required
for shipping including packing slips, as well as how to load, unload,
and stack crates and pallets using the forklift.
