Skills Printing Technology
This course will prepare students to perform the duties and responsibilities
required by entry level positions in the field of computer publishing,
such as compositor, electric repress systems operator, computer typesetter-keyliner,
desktop publisher, and electric pagination systems operator. Students
will learn about and will demonstrate mastery through projects using elements
of design and color exploration. In addition, they will study computer
technology, including Windows operating system and the internet, typography
and imagery, business English and math, and digital image editing and
illustration. Finally, students will become proficient in digital publishing,
including learning InDesign and QuarkXpress software programs, as well
as becoming familiar with printshop operations and portfolio development.
