Skills HVAC Installation & Service Technician
This course will prepare students to perform the duties and responsibilities
required by entry level positions in the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning
installation and service trade, such as HVAC installer-service helper,
refrigeration mechanic helper, and air conditioning installer-service
helper. HVAC stands for "heating, ventilation, and air conditioning."
Students will learn about HVAC installation and service safety, and how
to do silver brazing and soldering. In addition, they will study about
refrigeration, and how to do refrigeration recovery. Finally, students
will learn about the heat pump cycle, basic gas heat systems, and how
to evacuate and charge an air conditioning unit, as well as how to do
basic electrical repairs related to HVAC.
