Training
CET trains and places in jobs, unemployed, low-income, and underserved persons of all ethnic backgrounds. Students range in age from 17 to over 50. Many students are farm workers, single mothers on welfare, and disadvantaged youth.
CET nationwide offers more than 30 courses/skill-training options. Programs are designed for young people and adults of all backgrounds. Training Centers operate year-round, featuring open-entry, open-exit, competency-based training; there are no fixed "semesters."
Students train at their own pace in a highly individualized, non-competitive environment, with over 60% of the training conducted in a hands-on environment. An intensive program classes are offered year-round and students attend six hours a day, five days a week. Classes are conducted for small groups of students which reinforces the individualized training focus.
Good work habits are learned through simulation of a business environment. Training is integrated to include work place know-how, work preparedness, good attendance and punctuality, and job placement. CET students stay in training until they are placed in a job.
