Why contribute?

Why help women in-need succeed?

Well, according to the Department of Health and Human Services, in Fiscal Year 2001:

  • More than 2,200,000 U.S households received temporary assistance, previously known as welfare
  • 1,408,752 adults received temporary assistance
  • 90% of adult recipients were female
  • 97% attained 12 years or less of formal education

CET serves low-income, disadvantaged persons of all backgrounds by providing them with marketable vocational educational training and supportive services that contribute to economic self-sufficiency.

Students attend 6-7 month programs that include instruction and work-place simulated supervision, to best prepare them for long-term job placement.

CET Track Record and Resources: In study after study, CET has been recognized for its effectiveness and its Contextual Learning Model has become a virtual industry standard. A Department of Labor Study in 1995 concluded that the results of CET's training "...are among the largest training effects ever recorded in a youth training program."

Furthermore, the prestigious Economic Development Quarterly stated in 1999, ³CET trainees are placed into jobs at higher rates than are trainees from other programs, stay in those jobs longer and, over time enjoy substantial gains in earnings.²

CET collaborates with a vast array of social service agencies and providers in each community to help students acquire the services they need:

  • Childcare Services
  • Rent Stipend
  • Food Bank services
  • Immigration Services
  • Emergency assistance
  • Transportation Services

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredits CET operated centers. This accreditation permits students to apply for federal financial assistance programs to help students with tuition and basic living costs. Additional funds come from federal, state and local government sources, as well as from private companies and individuals.

Scholarship Goal

Our goal is to raise two $7,000 scholarships for two women to attend the full range of classes at CET. At the end of this training, these students will be ready to move to the next level of success in their life and career.

The CET Women's Scholarship was initially funded December of 2003. We all have learned a lot on our journeys of entrepreneurialism and working in startups. Please contribute to let more people experience the satisfaction of moving up in the world and providing for their families!

Many thanks for spreading the wealth and opportunity!
