Google Hosts Lunch for Female Executives: CET Executive Director attends...

Have you ever "googled" someone? Well if you type in Omid Kordestani, Sr. Vice President at Google Inc., you'd find some impressive information on this successful executive... and boy did Ms. Sapien feel honored to attend a lunch hosted by Mr. Kordestani on the Google campus last week!
Google is currently the hottest high tech company in Silicon Valley. In the mid 90's founders developed a new approach to online search that quickly spread to information seekers around the globe. Google is now widely recognized as the world's largest search engine — an easy-to-use free service that usually returns relevant results in a fraction of a second.
Strolling through the Google campus, on a guided tour by Raymond Nasr, Director, Executive Communications, it was amazing to see how successful high tech companies reward their employees: haircuts, snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner — available at no charge. And don't worry about doing your laundry during the weekend — bring it to work and do it while you're compiling your next program.
During a lunch in the infamous Google café, the intimate group of six asked Mr. Kordestani all types of interesting questions about Google and his own success. He offered several notable essentials for success:
1. Stay positive — Smile
2. Move forward — don't stay where you're at...
3. Be open to learning
4. Measure everything — Value the rigor of analytics
 Impressive considerations, especially after you read about his experience and appreciate just how successful he has been! After congratulating Hermelinda on CET's recent Diversity Award from DOL, Omid also discussed his enjoyment in working with female professionals, and said he marveled at their ability to balance work and personal life challenges extremely well.
As he chatted informally with the group, one could not help but notice the two other factors in his personal success formula: his sincere kindness towards people and his humility. Truly an amazing executive — he inspired each of us.
