CET and ALBA: Training Farmworkers for a Sustainable Future
In partnership with the Agriculture and Land Based Training Association (ALBA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Salinas, California, CET will offer Farm Management entrepreneurial training to eligible participants in the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP). An agricultural association, ALBA will provide entrepreneurial education and training activities for developing small farm businesses. ALBA and CET seek to create economic opportunities for farmworker trainees while promoting organic farming and contributing to healthy food systems. Through this collaboration, participants will be mentored in stewardship of land and water resources while being taught the use of native plant hedgerows, riparian restoration, integrated pest management and other practical solutions. A New Workforce Partnership in the Making in Santa Maria
The Santa Maria Center for Employment Training Division has launched a new and exciting workforce partnership. In collaboration with the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, CET will soon provide education and vocational training services to enrolled Chumash tribal members and their descendents. |

NASSCO and CET Partner
In April, 2003,CET San Diego and CET El Centro just successfully completed a customized Welding Skills training course for NASSCO (National Steel and Shipbuilding Company) employees; the first customized training delivered by CET to NASSCO. |
