Naturalization/Citizenship

The CET Immigration and Citizenship Program offers citizenship orientations, legal services, and citizenship classes to residents of Santa Clara County.

Citizenship Orientations

Citizenship orientations educate community members about the process of becoming a U.S. citizen, as well as the rights and responsibilities contingent upon citizenship. Orientations are conducted in both Spanish and English to effectively target community members. Please see Events for the dates and times of upcoming orientations.

Additionally, the program administers community-specific marketing initiatives to educate the public about USCIS eligibility requirements and fees and about the free legal services offered by the program. Our trained staff is available to give free informational citizenship orientations to local community organizations at their sites. For more information or to arrange an orientation at your site, please call: (408) 534-5451.

Legal Services

Our legal services are provided by Board of Immigration Appeals (B.I.A.) Accredited Representatives who work under the supervision of our program attorney. Services include client intake and assessment, application assistance, and advocacy and support for case completion.

Citizenship Classes

The program also offers citizenship classes that prepare clients for the citizenship test and interview.

Staff members first assess English proficiency through CASAS standardized tests, and then place clients in citizenship, ESL/EL Civics, or Spanish literacy classes. Taught by a BIA-accredited representative, citizenship classes utilize CASAS resources, a curriculum for naturalization preparation, and an audio-visual series for interview practice. Mock interviews and access to online resources are also integral to these classes.

Citizenship classes are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

For more information about citizenship classes, please call: (408) 534-5451.
