Success — Lives Transformed

Wilheminia Woods

Wilheminia Woods, a single mother of two boys, was referred to the Center for Employment Training by Ms. Jacqueline Rook, her job counselor with the Work First Program of Wake County. Prior to attending CET (1999) Ms. Woods' work experience was primarily retail and manufacturing. But, Wilheminia knew she could do so much more with her life than selling products and standing on production lines.

She was very worried about providing a good Christmas for her boys, but knew that if she didn't start someplace with the training she needed, all of future Christmases would be bleak.

Wilheminia started her Medical Administrative Assistant program in October of 1999, and knew she would be working hard to finish the program before her boys were out of school for the summer. Wilheminia set her goal to have employment and a path to a career by the spring of 2000. SHE DID IT!

Wilheminia started working at the Debnam Clinic in 1999 (located in Raleigh) as a Medicaid Billing Specialist in May of 2000.

In fact, Wilheminia is still there! She has a new title and responsibilities and most important a raise. She is now the Front Office Supervisor at the Debnam Clinic.

Wilheminia has shared with previous and present students what it takes to get there: Perseverance and Hard work!
