CET Executive Business Lunch

CET's Executive Business Lunch series started in 2006 with grand moments and great guests. As lunch was being served by our Culinary Arts program students, guests went around the table and introduced themselves. Some told stories of what brought them to CET. For example, Ms. Janice King, owner & publisher of Soul Magazine, told how she had attended musical performances in the CET theater but never really knew what CET was about. Later she received an e-mail from Rose Olivas of CET telling her how much she enjoyed her magazine and made the connection that her Mrs. Kings' nephew, Adam King was actually the Desktop Publishing Instructor at CET.

Mr. Cesar Cadena of Radio KAZA told how he was invited to an Executive Lunch in 2005. He explained to her that he started using the CET Print and Copy center to print his business cards and flyers. With him, he brought his business partner, Robert Yanez, whose mother was a great supporter of CET in the past. He vowed to support CET in anyway he could and help promote CET events. He wanted to reestablish the relationship his mother and family members previously had with CET.

Ms. Connie Martinez & Cathy Fisher of the Children's Discovery Museum were also present and explained that over the past few years, they have ordered bread for their events from our Culinary Arts Program. Vice Mayor of San Jose, Cindy Chavez was also in attendance and spoke of how CET has worked with students to better themselves and with that, become productive citizens. Steven Paquet, a student in CET's Desktop Publishing class, spoke of his life & struggles prior to becoming a student, and how CET has helped him stay on track in accomplishing his goals.

A highlight of the afternoon was when Mr. Robert Winter of HBSTech presented a donation to Hermelinda Sapien, CET's President & CEO. She was surprised and gracious in accepting this check. The lunch ended with a tour of the training facility and many new 'Friends of
CET' being made.
