Congressman Duke Cunningham has nominated Dora Mendivil, San Diego Center Director for the Center for Employment Training, to represent San Diego County at the National Hispanic Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., later this month.

The Summit will focus on proposals to protect and strengthen families, created economic growth, provide quality health care and ensure educational opportunities. Citing her leadership in the San Diego Community, continued commitment to the Hispanic Community and strong voice in our Country's affairs, Congressman Cunningham felt Ms. Mendivil would be an ideal representative to participate in a policy-based dialogue with members from Congress, Bush Administration representatives and Hispanic leaders from across the nation.

Ms. Mendivil has been a Director for three CET Divisions: Yuma, Arizona; Riverside and San Diego, California. She is also on various community service agency boards and is a member of the San Diego Workforce Investment Board, Veterans Employment Committee, MANA, Familias Juntas and ESL Teachers Association. Under her direction, CET San Diego has been the #1 center in the CET Corporate group of 24 centers in the United States for the past two years consecutively. The students also have collaborated on several community projects. These include the Veteran's Employment Job Fair, Bayview Community Development Corporation, CDC Neighborhood Pride Day, San Vincent de Paul and Habitat for Humanity.
